David has 20 years of experience in the development, implementation, and monitoring of programs and special initiatives for children, youth, families, and communities. His specific areas of expertise include youth development, healthy lifestyles, public health, access to primary healthcare for uninsured and under-insured populations, community change, resident engagement, and community-building initiatives.

David has provided facilitation, stand-up training, strategic planning and project management services for foundations, corporations and local government. His experience includes community action planning for environmental and policy change to promote Healthy Eating and Active Living (HEAL); community mobilization, leadership and policy development for systems changes which enhance the coordination of HIV/AIDS and other social services, as well as the oversight and implementation of research, grant program development and monitoring, and peer learning among grantees for Homeless/Health programs.

With over 12 years in philanthropy, David has worked with two top-25 Community Foundations in the U.S.: The Greater Milwaukee Foundation and The Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta – serving as Program Officer, Senior Program Officer, and Director of Community Partnerships, respectively. During that time he gained extensive experience through the management and evaluation of grant portfolios, project management of the county-wide Youth Civic Engagement initiative, development of a technical assistance program for non-profit organizational development.

David’s background also includes serving in various roles with the YMCA – including After-school Programs Coordinator, Summer Camp Co-Director, Teen Center Coordinator, Black Achievers Director, Child Care Director, and Youth & Family Director. He also served as the Operations Manager for The Youth Leadership Academy - developing social and leadership skill of over 150 African American boys.

David has a BA degree in Psychology from the University of Delaware. He is also a Hull Leaders in Philanthropy Fellow, and has a certification of from the Eisenhower Foundation on Accountability & Performance Measurement.
